TerraNor, established in 1989, is a software and consulting company working with GIS and remote sensing. This webinar will highlight two forestry projects in Sweden and how TerraNor and DigitalGlobe's high-resolution satellite imagery provided information and insight for forest health mapping.
The first project in 2011, mapped the trees attacked by the bark beetle. With the use of DigitalGlobe's satellite imagery and other airborne sensors, TerraNor was able to detect forest species, health and DEMs. The results of this project helped Sweden create a tree removal plan to help reduce another beetle attack.
The second project mapped the tree fallings from two heavy storms that passed over Norway and Sweden in December 2013 and January 2014. Quick information and maps were required to remove the trees but was it possible to use satellite sensors so far north in the middle of the winter?
